Important Things to Remember on Election Day

Well, here we are at the end of the rough road that has been the race to the Presidency 2016. We, at For Grace Enterprise, want to do our part to ensure people are properly informed with regards to their vote and how important it is. It is your right. It is your voice.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. You must vote IN PERSON!

You cannot vote via text messageYou cannot vote online. It must be done in person, on Nov. 8th.

2. Know where to go!

If you aren’t sure where to vote, find out here

3. Have ID with you!

If you are a registered voter, and have voted before you should not need to provide ID at your polling place. However, please take TWO FORMS of ID with you. Only the people working the front table should ask for this.

4. NO Pictures in the Booth!

Please DO NOT take a picture of your ballot, or voting machine. It is illegal. A selfie saying you voted is enough. We will still all like it.

5. No fighting or arguing!

This election race has done a good job of dividing us as a nation. Please do not engage irate, or ignorant, people at polling places. Go do what you came to do and get out of there.

6. No "Electioneering"!

I highly suggest you don’t wear anything that endorses a particular side. No pins, or tshirts, or etc. It’s considered "passive electioneering" and it’s illegal in many states.

7. Don't be Pressured!

It's YOUR vote. It's your right. It's your voice. Don't allow anyone to pressure you into voting for any particular person. You also do not have to tell anyone who you are voting for. It's actually ideal that you tell no one.

8. Stay the course!

Please do not be discouraged by long wait times at the polls. Give yourself time to do what you came to do!

(Bonus) NYS Election Law

New York State Election Law requires, if you do not have enough time outside of your working hours to vote, that you be allowed up to 2 hours (without loss of pay) to go vote.

(The law outlines that “4 consecutive hours between opening of polls and your start time at work, or four hours between your end time at work at closing of polling places” is “sufficient time”. So, If I work 8a-5p, and my polling place is open 6am to 9pm, I have enough time after work to vote. However, if I work 7am to 7pm, and my same polling place is open 6am to 9pm, I may be eligible to take that time during my shift. You cannot wait until the day of to give notice for this, though. You must give notice no later than the day before!)

If you are outside of New York State, and would like to know what election laws apply to your area, please contact us at info@forgraceenterprise.com.

Please do not be discouraged from voting at all because you don’t like any of the candidates. Please, please, please get out and vote tomorrow, November 8th. Our present and future depend on it.
